I must confess it’s been tough finding the motivation but I finally sucked it up and just paid for the SM100. My biggest mistake was not registering early so as to avoid any last minute wavering on my part. I think the biggest downer has been all the folks that I had hoped to do it with back out one by one. Well everyone but Mr. Reliable Dennis that is, he confirmed today that Super Frenchy will indeed be there. How ironic is it that the French guy is the only one with the guts to do the ride with me
For all of the rest of my normal riding crew (those not nursing an injury) I hope you sure do enjoy lounging around the pool, grilling or whatever while Dennis and I suffer out there
I know it’s gonna be a painful day of riding but I think backing out now would have been more painful as I would have obsessed over it all year until it rolled around again. It’s odd how the physical pain of riding 100 miles is preferable to the mental pain of wussing out.
Oh well in any event it’s done, I’m in. So who else is going to be on the mountain suffering with me come the 4th? Anyone want to carpool down and split the gas? I don’t relish the thought of a long solo drive down….

You know I’d be there if I could. Sorry I let you down dude.
Good luck.

Jason, I’ll do a first loop at my pace, and when I catch you up on my second loop, I’ll promise I’ll stay at your pace…
And I don’t mind carpooling with you. My plan is to leave Saturday afternoon, and come back Sunday morning. What’s your plan?
Uhm, is Dennis joking. Isn’t the race on Sunday.
Anyways I’ll be there volunteering. So far as I know I’ll be in the kitchen.
I’ll see ya before and after for sure. If I was a month further in the rehab I’d be racing.
Talking about the registration fee, when I first decided I was going to do it, I had planned on registering as early as possible so I couldn’t change my mind later. I almost registered before I had my “bad ride”.
I’ll probly be going up earlier on Saturday morning.

Yes, I meant I would come back Monday morning. My son has a party for his Xcountry-running team in the afternoon, and I would need to be there.
