Did another long road ride this weekend in my ongoing efforts to get my legs back after my accident. I’m rapidly approaching the 300 mile mark on my Tarmac. Saturday I got an early start with my buddy Dan and a few riders from the Frederick Peddlers. A little after 7am we rolled out of Glade elementary school headed for Gettysburg. The route was simply great and served to remind me what a good decision I had made when moving out to Frederick county. The terrain was mostly rolling, very scenic and best of all there was little to no traffic to contend with. This route will go down as one of my favorites. When road riding I really enjoy a long ride with a worthy destination as a target. In this case Gettysburg was great, we rolled through town and ended up circling around the battlefield etc before heading home. Pace wasn’t killer just moderate but steady, exactly what I’m needing right now. All said and done thanks to a couple of missed turns
we ended up with 70 miles rather than the 66 we were supposed to have done. This was my longest ride to date on the bike this year. I’m really looking forward to doing this route again. Here’s the cue sheet if anyone’s interested.
Sunday Austin and I had originally planned to visit White Clay Creek in Delaware to check out a skills trail. The weather ended up nixing those plans as it was likely to be too muddy due to the recent rain. We instead opted to stay close in to home and ride Greenbrier. Austin had never ridden there so I took the opportunity to show him around. We did the race course loop first and then followed it up with a reverse red/blue combo. It was pretty much all my legs were gonna handle with the ride I had done the day before. Despite running on fumes my legs did better than they did out there a few weeks ago. At least I know I’m doing something right.
Overall it was another solid weekend of riding. Also got to spend some time with my nephew Sunday which was really helped to finish the weekend off right. This coming weekend is my Anv so no riding on Sunday and if I do anything at all on Sat it’ll have to be close in and early.
This week I’m gonna do my Fairland and Road Riding regimen and maybe squeeze a Schaefer ride in. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Sounds like you had fun. I’ve been racking up the miles on the couch lately.
Have fun.
