Cycling Magazines on The Ipad
One of the things I am most enjoying about my new Ipad is using it to read digital magazines. This was one of the primary things that drew me to the ipad, the idea of consolidating the stack of magazines usually on my nightstand down into digital form was very appealing. The reading experience is excellent thanks to the gorgeous screen on the ipad and the fact that the software does a great job in emulating the traditional magazine experience. Zinio one of the popular apps that offers a number of popular magazines does a great job with presenting the content in a familiar way. Page turns and general navigation are fast and intuitive.
After loading Zinio, the first magazines I looked for where cycling related. I was really hoping Dirt Rag would be available in digital form but didn’t honestly expect it to be. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was available. I got a years digital subscription for $9.99. This is the type of digital content I’m more than willing to pay for. Bicycling magazine was absent but I am hopeful they will put out their own magazine app at some point. Mens Health who I believe is put out by the same publisher released their own app for their digital copy. I am hopeful that perhaps bicycling will eventually do the same o rend up in Zinio itself. In the meantime there are plenty of other cycling mags to choose from.
Here’s a list of what I found available on zinio for the ipad.
Not a bad selection to be available so early in the Ipad launch. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Zinio has been around for a while offering digital magazines. I’m eager to see how this selection both expands through Zinio and other stand alone magazine apps that are sure to follow. So thanks to the Ipad I’m well on my way to eliminating the fire hazard on my nightstand all the while enjoying more magazines than ever.
