Ok so now I understand why I’m tired and that ride hurt more than I expected. I really had no idea what the elevation was going to be when setting off. Mapmyride/google maps had one of the roads wrong and I was unable to map it out before leaving. Instead I just went old school with a paper cue and mapped it out for future reference. This was a good bit of climbing for me today given my worn out legs. Garmin connect shows the total at around 1500 ft for the 22 mile route. Yesterdays more mellow route with Dad and Bob came in at around 900 feet in 20 miles. I’m not burning up the blacktop yet but if I can slogging this stuff out I’ll get myself back into respectable shape. From personal experience I know that road riding will get me in shape much faster than hitting the trails. For now at least I’ll keep doing rides like this, throw in some longer rides and see how I progress. I’m staying off the mountain bike for a while longer to focus on the road miles. Once I’m comfortable I’ve made some solid gains fitness wise I’ll reward myself with some trail miles.

Looks like my new oregon has shipped from REI. Should have it for the weekend. That was a damn good deal #geocaching - posted on 31/08/2010 12:09:41
The rei Oregon deal was too good to pass up. I've been happy with my dakota but at that price I had to upgrade.. #geocaching - posted on 29/08/2010 01:49:19
Got 12 miles on the bike today with my buddy pete and managed to snag a few caches and drop some of my new mtb themed pathtags #geocaching - posted on 28/08/2010 22:08:26
