One of the things I am most enjoying about my new Ipad is using it to read digital magazines. This was one of the primary things that drew me to the ipad, the idea of consolidating the stack of magazines usually on my nightstand down into digital form was very appealing. The reading experience is excellent thanks to the gorgeous screen on the ipad and the fact that the software does a great job in emulating the traditional magazine experience. Zinio one of the popular apps that offers a number of popular magazines does a great job with presenting the content in a familiar way. Page turns and general navigation are fast and intuitive.
After loading Zinio, the first magazines I looked for where cycling related. I was really hoping Dirt Rag would be available in digital form but didn’t honestly expect it to be. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was available. I got a years digital subscription for $9.99. This is the type of digital content I’m more than willing to pay for. Bicycling magazine was absent but I am hopeful they will put out their own magazine app at some point. Mens Health who I believe is put out by the same publisher released their own app for their digital copy. I am hopeful that perhaps bicycling will eventually do the same o rend up in Zinio itself. In the meantime there are plenty of other cycling mags to choose from.
Here’s a list of what I found available on zinio for the ipad.
Bike
MBR
Dirt Rag
Bicycle Times
Cycling Weekly
Cycling Sport
Solo Bici 100 Mtb
Spoke
Cycling Plus
Cycling Active
El Mundo Mountain Bike
Ciclismo En Ruta
Pro Cycling
Total Bike Repair & Maintenance
2020BMX Magazine
Trisense
Not a bad selection to be available so early in the Ipad launch. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Zinio has been around for a while offering digital magazines. I’m eager to see how this selection both expands through Zinio and other stand alone magazine apps that are sure to follow. So thanks to the Ipad I’m well on my way to eliminating the fire hazard on my nightstand all the while enjoying more magazines than ever.

The new route was perfect for today’s ride. I took in some great new scenery and had a great time out on the bike. Since I’ve started doing more road riding close to home I’ve never been happier about moving up to Frederick county. The riding doesn’t get much better.

Today’s planned ride.
Keeping things interesting by trying to mix up my routes a bit. I’ve very nearly done all the utica rides posted in the Frederick peddlers cue library. Hopefully my legs feel better today than they did on Tuesday. I think my legs might be starting to feel all the miles I’ve been putting on them these past couple of months. Hopefully I beat today’s tstorms as intended.

I came across this posted over on tbe blog and thought I would post it here to help spread the word. Good eats for a good cause. Sounds like a good time for a good cause. Here are the details from http://frederickbicyclecoalition.com

Where: Agro Dolce
Restaurant, Germantown, MD
When: April 20th, 7pm
5 course dinner with Heavy Seas
beer pairing. $65/person (includes donation to Frederick Bicycle
Coalition)
See attached menu. A vegetarian option will be available, if you
want this, let the staff know when you call to reserve a spot.
Limited seating. If you are going with others, let the staff know
when you call so you can be seated together.
Call for reservations. 301.528.6150
You might notice the dinner is Montgomery County and be wondering
why. Well, Agro Dolce’s owner
is an avid cyclist and loves riding in Frederick. When he offered this
opportunity to FBC we couldn’t say no. Besides, the food is great and
the beer is brewed in Maryland.
Check out the FBC
Fundraiser Menu.
